Chocolate and Chilli Cake

The three c’s: chocolate, chilli, cake, followed by the three o’s….ooo!


180g  dark chocolate

1 shot of espresso

140g  butter

90g  plain flour

5 eggs (separated)

200g golden castor sugar

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp ground cinammon

2 tsp dried chilli flakes

1: Start melting the chocolate, add the espresso and then the butter.

2: When the melted mixture is completely smooth quickly add the egg yokes.

3: In another bowl beat the egg whites until they are stiff and then fold in the sugar.

4: Pour the chocolate mixture into the egg whites/ sugar mixture.

5: Sift all the other ingredients together and stir them into the chocolate egg mixture but gently so you don’t deflate it.

6: Bake it in a springform tin at 180C for  35 minutes.
