American Treats: Peanut Butter Cups

American Treats: Peanut Butter Cups

On  a recent trip to the States I indulged in many typical American treats: root beer floats, egg creme soda, peanut butter cups and tons of cupcakes. One great lunch I had was at Grounded in Greenwich Village – smoked salmon bagel followed by a giant peanut butter cup which inspired me to make my own!

You need per cup:

a paper/ silicon cupcake cup

a knob of butter

2 biscuits – I am based in Italy so use Gran Cereale but in the UK digestives are perfect

peanut butter

dark chocolate

1: Melt the butter, crumble the biscuits, add them to the butter,  and stir until it is a smooth mixture.

2: Put the mixture into the paper cups, filling them about a third of the way, and put them in the fridge to cool and harden a bit.

3: Melt the chocolate, take the cups out of the fridge, spoon some peanut butter onto the biscuit layer and then spoon some melted chocolate ontop.

4: Put them in the fridge to harden or if you are gasping to eat them put them in the freezer instead.
